【Toward an International Research Hub of Islamic Economic Studies】
"Islamic economic studies", compared with the past, has become a familiar concept even with the academic society in Japan. That is because of the growing interest and focus on some practices of the Islamic economy such as Islamic finance, and halal products that have rapidly grown and expanded recently even in Japan.

However, when we look at the gap between the rapid growth of the practices of the Islamic economy and the current situation of academic studies focusing these practices, it can be said that Islamic economic studies is still developing area not only in Japan, but also in international research trends. This implies that Islamic economic studies has a great potential to expand much more, and there could be a great opportunity for Islamic economic studies by KIAS to lead the field.
